OBANTOKO, Ogun State – Tension is brewing in the Obantoko ward of the All Progressives Congress (APC) following a violent disruption of a ward meeting by a former Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) member, Hon. Wale Famuyiwa, who recently defected to the ruling party.
According to multiple eyewitness accounts, Famuyiwa, who just joined the APC, led thugs from other wards to the meeting venue, where they allegedly harassed and intimidated party faithful.
Sources within the ward said the meeting was a routine gathering meant to discuss organisational matters, but was abruptly disrupted when Famuyiwa and his armed supporters stormed the venue, scattering party members and creating a scene of chaos.
This is not the first time Famuyiwa has been linked to such acts. Political observers in the local government recall that during his time in the PDP and, before that, the ADC, he allegedly led thugs to attack numerous people across the local government.
Party members in Obantoko ward have called on the APC leadership at the local and state levels to investigate the incident and take necessary disciplinary action, warning that such behaviour could undermine peace and unity within the party.
As of press time, Hon. Wale Famuyiwa had not issued any official response to the allegations. Attempts to reach him for comment were unsuccessful.
The APC state leadership has yet to release a statement on the matter.
