Prominent businessman and philanthropist, Alhaji Samsideen Adebayo Apelogun, alongside renowned Nollywood actor, Mr. Ebun Oloyede, popularly known as Olaiya Igwe, have commended the Ogun State Government for the development of the state-of-the-art Gateway International Airport, describing it as a landmark project capable of transforming the state’s economy and tourism sector.

The duo made the commendation while passing through the airport, where they expressed admiration for the modern facilities and lauded the government’s commitment to positioning Ogun State as a leading destination for investment, commerce, and tourism.

Speaking during the visit, Apelogun praised Governor Dapo Abiodun for the successful execution of the Gateway International Airport project, describing it as a bold step towards accelerating economic growth and attracting both local and international investors to the state.

According to him, the facility will not only improve connectivity but also create employment opportunities and stimulate business activities across various sectors.

“The Gateway International Airport is a remarkable achievement that reflects the vision and commitment of the Ogun State Government. This project will open up new opportunities for trade, investment, and tourism while enhancing the state’s competitiveness,” he said.

Apelogun recalled that he was among the first set of pilgrims to depart from the Gateway International Airport to Saudi Arabia for the recently concluded 2026 Hajj pilgrimage, noting that the direct flight from Iperu to Jeddah was a historic milestone for the state.

He described the experience as seamless and commendable, adding that the airport has already begun to demonstrate its strategic importance in facilitating international travel and boosting economic activities.

Also speaking, veteran actor Ebun Oloyede (Olaiya Igwe) praised the quality of the airport’s facilities, describing them as comparable to international standards.

He expressed confidence that the airport would contribute significantly to the development of Ogun State and improve the travel experience for residents and visitors alike.

“This is a project every Ogun indigene should be proud of. The airport is a testament to what purposeful leadership and strategic investment can achieve. It will undoubtedly place Ogun State on the global aviation map,” he stated.

Olaiya Igwe also commended the airport staff for their professionalism, courtesy, and excellent customer service, noting that their warm reception and dedication to duty contributed greatly to the positive experience of passengers.

He urged residents of the state to support and take pride in the facility, describing it as a legacy project that will serve generations to come.
