D.S. Adegbenro ICT Polytechnic Denies NELFUND Fraud Allegations, Invites NANS for Audit

OGUN STATE – The Management of D. S. Adegbenro ICT Polytechnic, Itori, has strongly refuted allegations of fraud related to the Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND), describing claims made by the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) as false, misleading, and without factual basis.

In a statement issued on Tuesday, the institution said it received with shock and concern a viral press statement and video attributed to the National President of NANS, Comrade Babatunde Akinteye, alleging the existence of NELFUND-related fraud within the Polytechnic.

The Management categorically denied the allegations, stressing that the institution has consistently upheld the principles of integrity, transparency, accountability, and academic excellence.

According to the statement, D. S. Adegbenro ICT Polytechnic remains committed to ethical conduct and due process in all its operations and would not engage in any activity capable of undermining government educational intervention programmes, including NELFUND.

“The allegations are entirely false, misleading, and without any factual basis,” the statement read. “Our commitment to institutional integrity, transparency, and accountability remains unwavering.”

The institution further reiterated its support for the educational transformation agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the developmental initiatives of the Ogun State Government under Governor Dapo Abiodun. It also acknowledged the role of the Commissioner for Education, Science and Technology, Professor Abayomi Arigbabu, in advancing educational reforms within the state.

The Polytechnic noted that the oversight provided by its Governing Council, led by Ambassador Toye Okanlawon, has continued to strengthen accountability and prudent resource management across the institution.

In a move aimed at ensuring transparency and public confidence, the Management invited the NANS President and other relevant stakeholders to visit the institution for a comprehensive fact-finding exercise, including a forensic audit of all NELFUND-related records and transactions.

The institution expressed confidence that such an exercise would confirm its compliance with all applicable guidelines and procedures governing the student loan scheme.

While condemning the circulation of unverified information capable of damaging the reputation of individuals and institutions, the Management urged members of the public to disregard the allegations.

It reaffirmed its commitment to providing quality technical and vocational education while maintaining the highest standards of transparency, accountability, and service delivery.
