In a bid to promote digital inclusion and prepare women for opportunities in the rapidly evolving technology landscape, the Adeola Azeez Community Care Foundation has organised a two-day Artificial Intelligence (AI) skills training programme for women.

The programme, themed “Equipping Women for the Future of Work,” is being held at the Diadem Building in Ijebu-Ode Local Government Area, Ogun State.

Tagged “Sisi in Tech: Women in AI,” the initiative brought together participants from Tai Solarin University of Education, Olabisi Onabanjo University, and Ogun State Polytechnic of Health and Allied Sciences to gain practical knowledge of AI technologies and their applications in business, education, entrepreneurship, content creation, and everyday problem-solving.

The training is designed to bridge the digital skills gap and equip women with the knowledge and tools needed to thrive in today’s technology-driven world.

Speaking at the event, the Foundation’s founder, Mrs Adeola Azeez, emphasised the importance of equipping women with emerging digital skills to enable them to remain competitive in the global economy.

According to her, the “Sisi in Tech” initiative was conceived to empower female university students who are preparing to enter the workforce. She disclosed that over 120 students are benefiting from the programme.

“As graduates, you must embrace technology. Artificial Intelligence is transforming industries, creating new opportunities, and reshaping the future of work. It is therefore essential for young women to acquire AI skills and position themselves for the future,” she said.

Mrs Azeez reiterated the Foundation’s commitment to fostering innovation, promoting digital literacy, and supporting initiatives that advance the economic empowerment of women through education and technology.

She also announced plans to launch “Bobo in Tech,” a similar initiative targeted at young men.

“I have often been asked why our programmes focus mainly on women. I am pleased to announce that ‘Bobo in Tech’ is already in the pipeline. We will collaborate with relevant stakeholders to make it a reality, ensuring that young men also have access to opportunities in digital and AI education,” she added.

Delivering a keynote address, Microsoft’s Chief Growth and AI Officer for the Middle East and Africa Growth Markets, Mrs Ola Williams, described the programme as an opportunity for learning, networking, and personal development.

She noted that AI presents enormous opportunities for young women and encouraged participants to take full advantage of the training to build valuable skills that would benefit them, their businesses, and their communities.

According to her, women have a critical role to play in the development and responsible use of Artificial Intelligence.

“AI needs women’s perspectives, leadership, creativity, and empathy. Their contributions are essential in ensuring that AI solutions are inclusive and address the needs of diverse communities,” she said.

Also speaking, Miss Lolade Morakinyo reaffirmed the Foundation’s commitment to expanding similar initiatives aimed at empowering women and young people with relevant digital competencies to build a more inclusive, innovative, and technology-driven society.

She urged participants to remain committed throughout the training and maximise the opportunity to acquire practical AI skills that would enhance their academic, professional, and entrepreneurial pursuits.

The two-day programme is scheduled to hold on Tuesday, 28 July, and Wednesday, 29 July 2026, bringing together experts, mentors, and technology professionals to equip participants with practical knowledge of Artificial Intelligence and its real-world applications.
