YPM Youth, Students Announce 10,000 Solidarity Trek for Senator Adeola in Ogun

The Youth and Students’ Wings of the Yayi Progressives Movement (YPM) have announced plans to stage a 10,000-strong solidarity trek in support of Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola (Yayi) on Wednesday 29th, 2026, describing the event as a peaceful civic demonstration aimed at promoting youth and student participation in democratic governance.

The announcement was made during a press conference jointly addressed by the YPM Students’ Wing Coordinator, Comrade Dotun Opaleye, and the YPM Youth Leader, Comrade ’Bola Awotubo.

Speaking at the event, Opaleye said the solidarity trek would serve as a platform for students across Ogun State to express appreciation for what he described as Senator Adeola’s commitment to educational development, youth empowerment and quality representation.

He noted that students remain critical stakeholders in nation-building and should play active roles in democratic processes through peaceful and responsible civic engagement.

According to him, the exercise is not only a show of support for the senator but also an opportunity to encourage greater student participation in governance while promoting unity, discipline and respect for the rule of law.

Opaleye commended the Convener of the Yayi Progressives Movement, Armstrong ‘Tope Akintunde, for his leadership and commitment to youth and student development. He also acknowledged the contributions of the Movement’s Co-Convener, Hon. Odeneye, MHR, the State Coordinator, Hon. Olusegun Kaka, and other apex leaders for creating opportunities for young people to participate in governance.

Highlighting Senator Adeola’s contributions to education, Opaleye referenced the recent distribution of bursaries and scholarships to 5,312 students of universities, polytechnics and colleges of education in Ogun State, describing the intervention as another demonstration of the senator’s commitment to human capital development.

Similarly, YPM Youth Leader, Comrade ‘Bola Awotubo, said the planned solidarity trek reflected the confidence of young people in Senator Adeola’s leadership and developmental initiatives across Ogun State.

Awotubo described the youth as the driving force of innovation and national development, stressing that their involvement in democratic processes remains essential for sustainable progress.

He said the solidarity trek was conceived as a peaceful expression of appreciation for purposeful leadership and an avenue to encourage responsible political participation among young people.

He also praised the leadership of the Yayi Progressives Movement, particularly Convener Armstrong ’Tope Akintunde, for fostering youth inclusion and empowering young people to contribute meaningfully to governance and community development.

Awotubo urged participants to conduct themselves peacefully, remain law-abiding and demonstrate that politics and civic engagement could be pursued responsibly and within the confines of the law.

The Youth and Students’ Wings extended invitations to members of the All Progressives Congress (APC), students, artisans, market leaders and other supporters of progressive leadership across the state’s 26 constituencies to participate in the solidarity trek.
