An All Progressives Congress (APC) supporter, Keshiro Sulayman Oluwasesan, has thrown his weight behind Senator Olamilekan Adeola, popularly known as Yayi, for the 2027 Ogun State governorship election, while criticising the political approach of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) chieftain and 2023 governorship candidate, Hon. Ladi Adebutu.

Sulayman, also known as Onilogbo, a member of the APC in Ijebu Ode Local Government Area, described Adeola as a “quintessential democrat” whose political career, he said, had been defined by legislative service, grassroots engagement and contributions to the development of Ogun State.

He urged residents of the state to prioritise competence, leadership experience and development records when choosing the next governor in 2027.

According to him, Ogun State requires a leader capable of sustaining the development trajectory of the administration of Governor Dapo Abiodun, particularly in the areas of infrastructure, investment and industrial development.

Sulayman said Adeola’s experience in the National Assembly and his representation of Ogun West had positioned him as a strong candidate capable of providing what he described as “courageous, competent and visionary leadership.”

He also argued that Adeola’s emergence as a consensus governorship aspirant within the APC reflected what he described as the longstanding demand by Ogun West for equitable representation in the state’s leadership.

The APC supporter linked the issue of power rotation to the history of Ogun State and what he described as expectations among the state’s major political divisions for a fair opportunity to produce the governor.

While making his case for Adeola, Sulayman criticised Adebutu, accusing him of political desperation and repeated electoral failures.

The allegations were made by Sulayman and were not independently substantiated in his statement. Adebutu was also not quoted as responding to the claims.

Sulayman urged political opponents, particularly Adebutu, to focus their campaigns on issues affecting residents rather than what he described as personal attacks against Adeola.

He called on opposition politicians to present clear manifestoes and practical policy proposals capable of addressing the challenges confronting ordinary residents of the state.

“Voters should be looking at competence, experience and development credentials rather than personal attacks and baseless political arguments,” - he said.

Sulayman also addressed questions surrounding Adeola’s ancestry and political roots, claiming that traditional institutions in Yewaland and Egbaland had vetted and affirmed the senator’s ancestry.

He maintained that such issues should not distract from substantive debates on governance, development and the welfare of Ogun residents.

As political parties begin preparations for the 2027 governorship election, Sulayman urged voters to scrutinise the records, competence and leadership capacity of all contenders.

He expressed confidence that Adeola, if elected, would provide what he described as courageous, competent and visionary leadership for Ogun State.
