The Ogun State Free Medical/Surgical Mission, in collaboration with the AJOSE Foundation, has donated hand sanitizers to Gateway International Airport (GIA) in Iperu, as part of efforts to promote proper hygiene and help prevent the spread of infectious diseases.
The donation highlighted the mission’s commitment to extending its healthcare and preventive health initiatives beyond medical treatment to include public health awareness and disease prevention.
Presenting the hand sanitizers, the Nigeria Coordinator of the Ogun State Free Medical/Surgical Mission, Prince Hakeem Adeola Awolesi, said maintaining proper hand hygiene remained one of the simplest and most effective way to reduce the transmission of germs, particularly in busy public facilities where people from different locations interact.
Awolesi, explained that the donation was aimed at supporting hygiene practices among Airport staff, passengers, visitors and other users of the facility.
In his remarks, the Airport Manager, Mr. Adebowale Arogundade, expressed appreciation for the gesture, noting that maintaining a clean and hygienic environment was essential to ensuring the safety and well-being of everyone who used the Airport.
Arogundade, said the donation was particularly timely, revealing that the airport had only recently organised a health training programme for its staff on infection prevention and control measures.
“Just yesterday, we organised health training on infection prevention and control measures for the safety of our staff and airport users. I can say that this donation of hand sanitizers is timely.
“We are happy to collaborate with your organisation in promoting preventive healthcare and strengthening community health,” the Airport Manager said.
The initiative further highlights the importance of partnerships between healthcare organisations, foundations and public institutions in promoting preventive healthcare and creating safer public spaces.
The Ogun State Free Medical/Surgical Mission has continued to provide free medical and surgical services to members of the public, as well as schools, churches, mosques and hospitals, with a focus on improving access to quality healthcare and supporting healthier communities across Ogun State.
