A Lagos-based man, Mr. Ojo Samuel Idowu, has recounted what he described as a harrowing experience following the death of his father in 2010, Saying that he was kidnapped and subjected to traditional religious rituals against his will.

Mr. Ojo said that following his father’s death in 2010, some members of his family contacted him and asked him to travel to Ile-Oluji, Ondo State, for a discussion concerning family matters.

According to him, on August 20, 2010, while travelling from Lagos to Ile-Oluji, he was allegedly ambushed and abducted by unknown men along the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway.

He alleged that his abductors took him to a remote location where traditional religious ceremonies were conducted, adding that he was forced to participate in the rituals against his will.

Mr Idowu said symbolic items, including a ring and a handkerchief, were placed on him while traditional prayers and incantations were reportedly recited.

He claimed that he remained in captivity for approximately two weeks before eventually being taken to Ondo State.

According to his account, his captors told him that he was expected to remain in Ondo State and take over his late father’s traditional religious responsibilities.

Mr Ojo further alleged that he was threatened because he had witnessed what the abductors described as secret traditional rituals.

He said the men warned him against revealing details of what he had seen, allegedly threatening to kill him if he disclosed the information.

“They told me that they had members throughout southwestern Nigeria and warned me that I must never disclose what I had seen or I would be killed,” Mr Ojo recounted.

He said members of his family subsequently denied any involvement in his alleged abduction.

Mr Ojo Samuel, however, said his children were aware that he had travelled and became concerned when he failed to return.

According to him, his children subsequently reported his disappearance to the Lagos State Police Command.
