The Chairman of the Ogun State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB), Evang. Olalekan Ifede, has commended the leadership of the Non-Academic Staff Union of Education and Associated Institutions (NASU), Ogun SUBEB Branch, for its commitment and achievements, describing the Union’s inaugural NASU SUBEB Week and Annual General Meeting (AGM) as a significant milestone.

Ifede, gave the commendation at the event which took place at the Sagamu LGEA Cooperative Hall, Sagamu, Ogun State, where he assured the Union that NASU SUBEB would henceforth be recognised as one of the Unions  the Board would reckon with.

The SUBEB Chairman urged the Union’s leadership and members to remain focused, united and committed to their goals. He also encouraged them to be productive, impactful, respectful and professional in the discharge of their duties, charging them to maintain decency and ensure that their appearance remained presentable, particularly in the workplace.

In his keynote address, the State Chairman of NASU, Comrade John Rasaki, described NASU as a dynamic organisation committed to the welfare and advancement of its members nationwide, urging NASU members in SUBEB to support their leaders and work collectively towards the continued growth and development of the Union.

Earlier, the Branch Chairman of NASU,  Ogun SUBEB, Comrade Taiwo Adeniyi, described the occasion as historic, noting that NASU activities commenced on Tuesday, September 21, 2026, with members across various units celebrating as one big family, 

saying the activities would culminate in Jumat and Thanksgiving services on Friday, September 25, and Sunday, September 27, 2026, in Abeokuta and Ijebu-Ode respectively.

He commended the  State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun, for appointing Ifede as SUBEB Chairman, noting that the appointment had contributed immensely to the renewed efforts in advancing basic education in the State.

He also appreciated Ifede for honouring the Union’s invitation despite his busy schedule.

In their separate goodwill messages, the Director of Teachers’ Development of the Board, Mr. Kola Adagojo and the President of Teledalase CMS Ltd, Ijebu-Ode, Comrade John Rasaki, urged members to utilise loans obtained through the NASU SUBEB Cooperative Society responsibly and ensure timely repayment to enable other members to benefit.

The highlight of the event was the presentation of awards to individuals recognised for their commitment, exemplary leadership and contributions to the growth of NASU SUBEB.

Among the awardees were Evang. Olalekan Ifede, Chairman of Ogun SUBEB; Mr Femi Fatade, Director of Administration and Supplies; Comrade Hassan Olalekan Akibu, pioneer Chairman of NASU SUBEB; Comrade Taiwo Adeniyi; Director of ICT, Ogun SUBEB, Comrade Taoreed Agboola and Comrade Adegboyega  Moripe, among others.

Responding on behalf of the awardees, the Director of ICT, Ogun SUBEB, Comrade Agboola, appreciated the Union for the recognition, noting that the honour would further motivate the recipients to contribute more to the development and growth of the Union.
