A Chieftain of All Progressives Congress,  APC and Senior Special Assistant to the Ogun State Governor on Youth Development, Hon. Babatunde Delu, has met with members of the Community Development Association, CDA, and Community Development Committee, CDC, in Ward 13, Abeokuta South Local Government Area, as part of efforts to strengthen grassroots political engagement.

The meeting, held on Monday at the town hall in Igbore, brought together community leaders and residents from Igbore, Itori, Ikhana and Ọba communities.

Speaking at the CDC/CDA meeting, Delu urged residents to take an active part in the political process by registering to vote, collecting their Permanent Voter Cards, PVCs, and participating in political activities ahead of the general elections.

He said the participation of residents at the grassroots was important to the success of the democratic process, urging community members not to stay away from politics but to make their voices count through their votes.

Delu also called on the residents to support the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the All Progressives Congress, APC and other APC candidates ahead of the general elections.

He specifically urged the people to support the APC Governorship candidate, Senator Olamilekan Adeola, popularly known as Yayi, Senator Shuaib Salisu, Afolabi Afuape and other APC candidates in the local government.

The Governor’s aide also encouraged the community leaders to mobilise their members and continue to engage with residents at the grassroots to ensure that eligible voters complete their registration and collect their PVCs.

He said strong community participation would help to create better awareness and encourage more people, particularly youths, to take an interest in the political process.

Delu further urged the CDA and CDC leaders to maintain unity within their communities and work together in promoting development and effective representation.

The meeting formed part of his ongoing engagement with communities in Abeokuta South, with a focus on strengthening grassroots mobilisation and encouraging residents to participate actively in the forthcoming elections.

Governor Abiodun's aide therefore donated a total sum of One Million Naira to the CDA/CDC as to support them towards the development of the various communities.

Some CDA/CDC chairpersons disclosed the challenges facing them in their respective communities. They therefore called for Government’s support.
