The Executive Chairman of Ijebu North-East Local Government Area, Ogun State, Hon. Folusho Badejo, on Thursday, October 8, 2026, paid a courtesy visit to the Honourable Minister of Communications, Innovation and Digital Economy, Dr. Bosun Tijani, at his office in Abuja.

The visit provided an opportunity for discussions on the Federal Government’s digital transformation agenda, youth empowerment, and the expansion of telecommunications infrastructure to underserved communities across Nigeria.

During the meeting, the Minister highlighted some of his ministry’s initiatives aimed at accelerating Nigeria’s digital development. He reaffirmed the importance of extending digital opportunities to local government areas, with particular emphasis on empowering young people through technology and digital skills.

Dr. Tijani also discussed the implementation of the POSTCODE application, a digital initiative designed to help users identify and locate addresses across different parts of Nigeria. The initiative is expected to contribute to improved address identification and support the country’s broader digitalisation efforts.

Furthermore, the Minister spoke about plans to expand telecommunications services to every nook and cranny of the country, ensuring that more communities have access to reliable connectivity and the opportunities that come with digital inclusion.

In his contribution, Hon. Badejo drew the Minister’s attention to the connectivity needs of Eyin-Osun community in Ward 3 of Ijebu North-East Local Government Area, highlighting the importance of extending telecommunications infrastructure to the community.

In response, the Minister directed his officers to take note of the community for further attention, raising hopes for improved connectivity and greater digital inclusion for residents.

The visit underscored the importance of collaboration between the federal and local governments in advancing digital development, bridging the digital divide, and creating opportunities for young people and underserved communities.

The meeting concluded on a positive note, with renewed emphasis on the need to ensure that the benefits of Nigeria’s digital transformation reach communities at the grassroots level.
