OGUN HOS EULOGISES LATE BISIRIYU AT MEMORIAL LECTURE

The Late Ogun State Head of Service, Engr. Olanrewaju Isiaq Bisiriyu has been described as an outstanding public administrator, committed and diligent professional, whose life exemplified good virtues worthy of emulations by the present day Civil/ Public Servants.

The Ogun State Head of Service, Mr. Olanrewaju Saka made this known in a goodwill message as a Special Guest of Honour at the Public Lecture in memory of the Late Head of Service, put together by The Nigerian Society of Engineers (NSE), Abeokuta Branch, with the theme "Leadership, Governance and Institutional Excellence: Repositioning the Public Service for Effective and Sustainable Development", held at the NSE Abeokuta Secretariat, Abiola Way, Abeokuta.

According to him, the Late Bisiriyu was a man who would always be remembered for his integrity, sense of responsibility, and genuine concerns for others, thus, the qualities made his life worthy of emulation, while his legacies would remain indelible in the family, community, professional associations and the Ogun State Public Service.

"For us in the Civil Service, remembering those who served before us is more than an expression of respect for the past; it is a recognition that the strength and progress of the Service today are built on their dedication and contributions. Their experience, accomplishments and sacrifices form an enduring part of our institutional heritage and offer valuable guidance to succeeding generations of public servants.

"It is therefore commendable that the Nigerian Society of Engineers, Abeokuta Branch, has chosen to honour Engr. Bisiriyu through a Public Lecture that brings together remembrance and constructive reflection. Such an initiative ensures that the values associated with his years of service continue to find relevance in the challenges of today", the HoS said.

He said the theme of the Lecture is not only timely but significant especially at a time like this that public Institutions are required to respond with greater effectiveness, professionalism and innovations to the demands of governance.

"In honouring Engr. Bisiriyu, therefore, we are not merely looking back. We are drawing from the experiences of the past to challenge ourselves to build a Civil Service that is responsive, professional, innovative and firmly committed to the development of Ogun State", he said.

On his part, the Chairman of the occasion and President, Nigerian Society of Engineers, Engr. Ali Alimasuya Rabiu, represented by a former Abeokuta Branch Chairman, Engr. Mutiu Odesanya, said the lecture offers a platform for retrospection, dialogue and ways to improve the Public Service to be more responsive and be known for excellence.

He urged the Engineers to continue to examine how leadership, purpose and institutional excellence can help create a service that is efficient, accountable and innovative, and added that the NSE recognises the indispensable role that the Civil Service plays, being the engine room for the implementation and continuity of government programmes and policies.

Earlier in his welcome address, the Branch Chairman, Engr. Adekunle Musa said the gathering was to honour a distinguished engineer, an administrator, a manager, professional colleague and mentor, whose life provided an opportunity as well as important lessons for all to learn from, and added that his worth and value remained relevant to the Society.

Responding on behalf of the family, younger brother to the deceased, Mr. Tunde Bisiriyu, appreciated God almighty and the NSE for the honour done the family by not allowing the memory of his brother to go into extinction and prayed for God's protection and guidance in all future endeavours.
