...pledges grassroots mobilisation for APC candidates
The Convener of I-Women (Ijebu Women for Development and Empowerment Initiatives), Mrs. Yinka Ogundimu, has welcomed President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s commitment to sponsoring executive bills aimed at improving women’s representation in elective and appointive positions, describing it as a commendable step towards inclusive governance.
I-Women, a network of professional Ijebu women at home and in the diaspora, urges state governments, particularly the Ogun State Government, to take a cue from the President by creating more opportunities for women to participate meaningfully in governance.
Mrs. Ogundimu commended the President for recognising women’s contributions to democracy and stressed that women must not only be mobilised during elections but also given greater opportunities to occupy leadership positions.
She particularly applauded the APC gubernatorial candidate, Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola (Yayi), for demonstrating commitment to women’s inclusion through his nomination of a woman as his deputy, describing the decision as an encouraging example of putting words into action.
She assured President Tinubu and the leadership of the APC of I-Women’s readiness to intensify grassroots mobilisation, particularly across the Ijebu hinterland, in support of all APC candidates in the forthcoming elections.
These include Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola (Yayi), the APC gubernatorial candidate; Governor Dapo Abiodun, the APC senatorial candidate; and all other candidates flying the APC banner across Ijebu Federal Constituency.
Mrs. Ogundimu reaffirmed I-Women’s commitment to women’s political empowerment, grassroots engagement and the advancement of Ijebu communities, noting that sustained mobilisation and inclusive leadership are essential to democratic progress.
