The All Progressives Congress (APC) has inaugurated its Campaign Committee for Sagamu State Constituency II, with a renewed call for party unity, grassroots mobilisation and collective commitment towards securing victory for its candidates in the 2027 general elections.
The inauguration, which brought together party leaders, elders, stakeholders and supporters, was organised to strengthen the party’s campaign structure and mobilise support for Hon. Olapeju Abiodun Ayodele, the APC candidate for Sagamu Constituency II in the Ogun State House of Assembly.
Addressing party members, the APC Chairman in Sagamu Local Government, Rotimi Omotayo, charged members of the newly inaugurated committee to take their responsibilities seriously and intensify grassroots mobilisation in support of the party’s candidates.
Omotayo also congratulated Hon. Funmi Efuwape (FAECO) on her emergence as the APC candidate for the Ikenne/Sagamu/Remo North Federal Constituency, expressing confidence in her electoral prospects. He cautioned party leaders against anti-party activities, urging them to put the collective interest of the APC above personal considerations.
He emphasised that unity, cooperation and discipline among members would be critical to the party’s success at the polls.
Similarly, the Grand Patron of the APC Campaign Committee for Sagamu Constituency II, Alhaji Olokun Dada, underscored the importance of dedication, consistency and hard work, urging members to remain committed to the party’s objectives. He expressed optimism that their collective efforts would produce positive results and offered prayers for the party’s success.
The Chairman of the Elders’ Council in Sagamu Constituency II, Alhaji Ade Adesanya, described the committee as an important instrument for expanding the party’s electoral strength, tasking members with convincing voters and consolidating APC support across the constituency.
In his remarks, the Director-General of the Olapeju Abiodun Ayodele Campaign Organisation, Hon. Femi Ogundalu, appreciated party leaders, faithful and committee members for their participation, stressing the need for sustained public enlightenment on Ayodele’s achievements, interventions and contributions to the constituency.
Also speaking, the APC Vice Chairman in Sagamu Local Government, Aare Kehinde Oseni, highlighted some of Ayodele’s reported constituency interventions, including the installation of solar-powered streetlights, provision of boreholes and distribution of motorcycles.
He urged committee members to communicate the party’s manifesto effectively, while calling on committee chairmen to ensure active participation and effective mobilisation within their respective units.
Otunba O. J. Oduntan, in his contribution, reaffirmed his commitment to the APC at all levels, declaring his readiness to work for the party’s victory despite what he described as attempts by opposition elements to undermine his political influence.
Meanwhile, the member representing Sagamu Constituency I in the Ogun State House of Assembly, Hon. Mohammed Damilare Bello, called for stronger collaboration among party stakeholders, describing teamwork and internal cohesion as essential to electoral success.
Bello described Ayodele as a credible and marketable candidate, noting that his record of service and commitment to the people predated his anticipated legislative responsibility.
Speaking at the event, FAECO, a former Chairperson of Sagamu Local Government and former Commissioner for Women Affairs, Special Duties and Intergovernmental Affairs, expressed confidence in the APC’s prospects ahead of the 2027 general elections.
She maintained that electoral victory would require the active participation of every party member, urging leaders and supporters to take responsibility for mobilising votes and strengthening the party’s presence at the grassroots.
FAECO particularly appealed to APC leaders in Sagamu Constituency II to remain united and committed to the party's collective interest. She also advised Ayodele to sustain close relationships with party leaders and stakeholders, especially within the constituency.
Responding, the APC candidate for Sagamu Constituency II, Hon. Olapeju Abiodun Ayodele, expressed appreciation to party leaders, members and supporters for their commitment and attendance.
He also apologised to party members whose names were not captured in the inaugural campaign committee list, explaining that it was difficult to accommodate everyone in the initial arrangement.
Ayodele, however, assured members that efforts would be made to provide opportunities for wider participation, stressing his commitment to carrying everyone along in subsequent campaign activities.
The inauguration was attended by FAECO; Hon. Adeniran Ademola (Sapele), member representing Sagamu Constituency II in the Ogun State House of Assembly; Hon. Mohammed Damilare Bello, representing Sagamu Constituency I; Alhaji Olokun Dada; Hon. Isiaka Salami, Executive Vice Chairman of Sagamu Local Government; and other prominent APC leaders and stakeholders.
