IJEBU ODE LG TO HOLD ANNUAL OLABISI ONABANJO LECTURE

The authorities of Ijebu Ode Local Government has hinted of its plans to hold the Annual Olabisi Onabanjo Lecture.

The Executive Chairman of the Local Government, Alhaji Babatunde EMILOLA-GAZAL, gave this hint on wednesday,  while speaking  at the meeting of the Olorituns in the local government area,  held at the council secretariat,  Itoro,  Ijebu Ode.

The event, the maiden edition, which shall hold next February,  is to celebrate the former civilian Governor of Ogun State, who also served as the Executive Chairman of Ijebu Ode Local Government, and whose governance model is still being used as a template in many local governments in Nigeria,  today.

It will also be used as a platform to honour Ijebu Ode Sons and Daughters,  who have all excelled in their private and public endeavours, and who would be urged to contribute to a Trust Fund that will be channelled into purpose that will serve the interest of the good people of the local government area, chief amongst which is the resuscitation of the new secretariat building,  initiated by the Chief Bisi RODIPE administration.

The council boss also promise to create a beautiful scenery for the local government metropolis through an Environment Beautification Programme that will be done under a Public-Private-Partnership arrangement.

Maintenance of existing Trunk C roads is also listed as one of his priorities, as he  announced his plans of having the defunct Public Works Department,  resuscitated, to ensure safer and motorable roads.

The local government shall also cultivate an Oil Palm Plantation in the Isiwo axis, as plans are being intensified towards acquiring the required land for same purpose.

He therefore sought the cooperation and support of the Olorituns on the successful implementation of the lofty ideas.

Responding, the Public Relations Officer of the Ijebu Ode Council of Olorituns, Alhaji Kayode SAIBU, commended the Chairman for his good vision for the local government,  while he pledged the council's support to the Chairman and his administration.
