OGSG TO REHABILITATE AKUTE HIGH SCHOOL FOR ACADEMIC EXCELLENCE

 


The Ogun State Ministry of Education, Science and Technology has taken step to rehabilitate Akute High School in Ado/Odo Ota Local Government Area of the State, after years of academic disruption, as a result of flooding incidence that affected teaching and learning activities in the school.

 Commissioner in the Ministry, Prof. Abayomi Arigbabu who led teams of Engineers and other professionals from the Ministries of Housing and Environment, for on-the-spot assessment to the school.

Prof. Arigbabu expressed that the visit was to ascertain the condition and have first-hand information on the state of the school and access temporary site where the students were moved.

"We are here with the Ministry of Environment and Housing to do on the spot assessment, so that we can have professional advice on what should be the next line of action, we want things to be done thoroughly, to proffer a lasting solution to the flooding situation facing the school", the Commissioner said.

Arigbabu stressed that what was paramount to the government was to ensure students learn under good, safe and conducive environment, saying that government would continue to improve on teaching and learning in schools.

"The intention of the State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun on this visit is to get professional advice in order to rehabilitate the school and find lasting solution to make learners and the community benefit from the qualitative and free education", he stressed.

While addressing the teams, the Vice Chairman, Community Development Committee, Akute axis, Pastor Samuel Adejumo pointed out that the community was glad to see that government has made effort to tackle the challenges facing the school.

Some of the officials in the entourage includes the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Mrs. Abosede Ogunleye, her counterpart in Housing, Alhaji Olalekan Lukan and Environment, Engr. Rasak Ojetola.
