INTERNATIONAL BORDER CRISIS: YNLG BOSS SUES FOR PEACEFUL CO-EXISTENCE, FROWNS AT INVASION

 


In furtherance to the protection of  lives and property of its citizenry of present administration in Ogun State,  the Chairman, Yewa-North Local Government, Hon. Gabriel Ogunyomi has called for peaceful co-existence among residents of Igbokofi community area of the Council.


Ogunyomi made the call while on a peace mission tour of the area in company of stakeholders in the security sector where he charged the security men to ensure adequate protection of lives and property and resist any form of invasion by the Benin people.


LG boss who disclosed that people in the border towns of both countries have been cohabiting  for a long time and even inter marry without crises, charged everyone to maintain peace as no meaningful development could be achieved in an atmosphere of rancor.


In their separate remarks, the Ogun State Controller of Immigration, Sunday Ogbole and his counterpart from Nigeria Custom Service  from Idi-Iroko boarder, Da Nnadi enjoined the residents to create more awareness for harmonious relationship among the people and shun ethnic rivalries, killings, as well as invasion of Nigeria Land.


"All stakeholders must rise to the occasion to play their parts in engendering a more peaceful coexistence and by extension one Nigeria", they said.


The security chiefs also warned that no one  take law into his hands whenever there is grievance, instead, they should report to the concern authorities with assurance that such matter would be amicably addressed.


Also speaking, the Baale, Chief Olusesan Olusoji and a community leader, Pastor Olukunle Garb gave assurance of security of lives and property, as they had been complimenting the efforts of all security agencies with series of meetings and collaborations towards peace in the area.


They further, pledged residents' support for the  present administration of Governor Dapo Abiodun in his quest to make life worth living for rural communities across the state


Highlight of the tour was the release of the detained man of Igbokofi, Mr Simeon Akinola in Benin custody and Mr Wale Leoto in Nigeria Police custody to the Chairman of the Council.
