IKENNE LG BOSS SYMPATHISE WITH FIRE VICTIMS, PROMISED GOVERNMENT INTERVENTION


The Executive Chairman, Ikenne Local Government, Hon. Olusegun OGUNLEYE, has paid sympathy visit to victims of fire disasters in Iperu, with the promise that Government will intervene to cushion the effect of losses recorded as a result of the unfortunate incident.


Hon. OGUNLEYE, who was accompanied during the visit by the Vice Chairman, Hon. Abolanle FAKOYA, sympathised with those who lost their valuables to the inferno, while assuring them of government's support.


The Chairman however advised residents and shop owners to always observe all necessary precautions in order to avoid similar untoward occurrences, moreso as the harmattan rages.


Speaking during the visit, Mr. Adelaja OPEODU, the occupant of the 2-bedroom flat and 2 room apartment gutted by fire at Oke Maro area of the town, said the cause of the fire which started around 10pm on Monday was yet unknown, and that all efforts made to extinguish the fire proved abortive, until the arrival of the men of the Ogun State Fire Service.


Another occupant, an expectant mother, Mrs. Oluwakemi ADEBAYO, while narrating her ordeal, said all the baby needs she bought for her incoming child, including her personal belongings were completely burnt.


Also speaking, another victim, a shop owner at Lugoke area of the town, Chief (Mrs.) Doris LEGUNSEN, narrated that her properties, which includes Television, DVD Player, Refrigerator, and Coolers were all completely burnt by the fire allegedly caused by electric spark.


Hon. Toyosi ADESINA, Councillor, Ward 4; and Honourable Lekan OSINOWO, Councillor, Ward 3, both of Iperu, also joined the Chairman during the visit.
