OGUN ASSURES OF MASSIVE INFRASTRUCTURE IN RURAL COMMUNITIES

The determination of Ogun State Government to further improve the livelihood of people at the grassroots and provide massive infrastructure for rural communities remains unwavering, the Commissioner for Rural Development, Engr. Taiwo Oludotun has assured.

Oludotun gave this assurance in Abeokuta, while playing host to a delegation from Odeda Local Government led by its Chairman, Hon. Mrs. Folashade Adeyemo, saying the government had paid counterpart funding to enable the Ogun State Rural Access and Agricultural Marketing Project (RAAMP), to embark on more road construction and other developmental projects.

Oludotun noted that his Ministry was ready to support the 20 Local Government Chairmen to deliver their mandates to the people for the rapid growth of their council areas.

He pointed out that the present administration in the State had also graded rural access roads, provided Solar Power boreholes, and Solar home kits for rural dwellers, among others, stating that Odeda Local Government Area would benefit more from its water, electrification and road projects soon, so as to add value to the socio-economic activities of the people.

Earlier in her speech, Hon. Mrs. Adeyemo said the team visited the agency to seek its assistance in the provision of graders, noting that most communities in the council area were rural, hence the need for a good access road to transport their farm produce.

"I believe that we need to partner with the Ministry of Rural Development, to enable us to carry out the promises made to the people, particularly on the grading of roads", the council Chairman said.

On his part, the Permanent Secretary in the Ministry, Adetunji Kanimodo, said the Ministry would continue to deliver quality jobs in line with the present administration's ‘Building our Future Together’ agenda.
