COVID-19 VACCINATION'LL BOOST IMMUNITY, WELLNESS- OGUN PHCDB BOSS

 


The Executive Secretary, Ogun State Primary Health Care Development Board (PHCDB), Dr. Elijah Ogunsola has said vaccination against the COVID-19 virus provides immediate and immeasurable health benefits that willl boost immunity and ensure wellness.


Dr. Ogunsola stated this in Abeokuta during a Day stakeholders meeting for Religious, Community Leaders and Students Union on the ongoing COVID-19 Mass Vaccination Ramp Up exercise organised by the Board in collaboration with APIN Public Health Initiative, saying vaccination was a critical component of economic recovery, hence the collective responsibility of all citizens to ensure everyone gets vaccinated.


          The Executive Secretary, represented by the Director of Administration and Supplies, Mr. Adedamola Adelaja noted that “the society is at a time when there is need to collectively support government's efforts at delivering quality health care, geared towards individual and societal economic growth”.


He urged the participants to mobilise people in their various communities for the ongoing vaccination ramp-up campaign to capture targeted individuals.


          In his remark, the Director, Planning, Research and Statistics, Dr. Kofoworola Fashola, explained that the objective of the meeting was to brief participants on the progress made so far on the campaign, as well as demystify the myths and fears about the vaccine, assuring that it is a safe, effective and most potent form of protection against the virus.


           Also speaking, the Director, Primary Health Care, Dr. Salimot Sanni restated that the present administration would continue to ensure the well-being and safety of the people across the State, admonishing them to work together so that eligible residents could be vaccinated in their localities.


 In her goodwill message, the Coordinator, APIN Public Health Initiatives, Dr. Janet Olugbusi opined that some diseases were better prevented through immunisation, encouraging the people to give priority to the vaccination.


           In their separate responses, the Chief Imam of Egbaland, Sa’adallah Bamgbola, and representative of the Christian Association of Nigeria, Rev. Dr. Paul Fadiji, appreciated the State government for taking proactive measures towards ensuring that residents were safe and protected against the pandemic.
