OGSG REIMBURSES VICTIMS OF SAWMILL FIRE EXPLOSION IN IJEBU-ODE

 


In its determination to uplift the businesses of victims of Kerewa Sawmill, Ejinrin road, Ijebu-Ode which was gutted by fire last year, the Ogun State Government has reimbursed the affected traders.


The State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun while disbursing the cash to the victims at the sawmill in Ijebu-Ode, said the government would not relent in giving dividends of democracy to the residents.


Governor Abiodun, represented by the Commissioner for Special Duties and Inter-Governmental Affairs, Barr. Femi Ogunbanwo, restated his administration’s commitment to ensure the wellbeing of the citizens.


The State helmsman, who condoled with the victims, encouraged them to make judicious use of the money and engage in self-help tasks, such as providing facilities within their premises to forestall future occurrences and adopt insurance policies to safeguard their businesses in case of any eventuality.


In his remark, the Chairman, Odogbolu Local Government, Hon. Ladejobi Shuaib appreciated the Governor for his prompt response and charged the people to reciprocate the gesture by paying their taxes and rates regularly.


Speaking, House of Assembly members representing Ijebu-Ode and Odogbolu constituencies, Honourables Kemi Oduwole and Atinuke Bello respectively, enjoined the people to continue to cooperate with the government for the State to witness more development.


Earlier in his speech, Director, Ogun State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA), Mr. Olufolarin Ige said the agency would continue to respond to the needs of the people, particularly in the area of emergency management.


Speaking on behalf of the beneficiaries, Messers Ajayi Adekunle and Suraju Adewusi lauded Prince Abiodun for coming to their aid, promising to make credible use of the money.
