OGUN FARMERS ENJOINED TO PARTAKE IN ONGOING DATA CAPTURING FOR FARMERS

 


Farmers have been called upon to to get enlisted in the ongoing data registration in Ogun State for easy identification and accessibility that would make it easier for the State Government to cater for them with necessary help whenever the need arises.


The Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Agriculture, Dr. (Mrs) Angel Adelaja-Kuye gave the enjoinment while addressing members of All Farmers' Association (AFAN), Ijebu-Ode Chapter at the Local Government Secretariat.


She maintained that such registration would further strengthen their relationship with government which would in-turn make them enjoy more dividends of democracy and other Interventions for farmers.


Adelaja-Kuye enumerated different areas of Intervention on agricultural matters like value chain and health care programme, among others, which the farmers can benefit from if they register, disclosing that her office was opened for discussions as regards the development of farming in the State.


Lending his voice to the SSA's the Chairman, Ijebu-Ode Local Government, Alhaji Emilola Gazal charged AFAN members to mobilize themselves to participate in the on-going data registration of farmers in the Department of Agriculture and Natural Resources, Ijebu Ode Local Government Secretariat, Itoro.


Gazal reteirated the commitment of his administration at focusing on agriculture with plans to procure farmlands for the cultivation of oil palm.


"Since inception of this administration, I have made contacts in securing some parcel of lands at Isiwo for the purpose of palm oil plantation, but due to paucity of fund, the council couldn't embark on it but we believe that with the intervention of State Government, it will be a reality, hence the need to do your part in the data registration exercise", he said.


Earlier, the Chairman AFAN, Ijebu Ode Chapter, Engr Ademola Shote, highlighted the specialized area of the Association such as, livestock, agrochemical, fishery and mushroom farming and so on, and sought for the State and the Local Governments'  intervention in provision of farmlands and mechanism to ease the production of farm produce, noting that the best experts of farmers are in Ijebu Ode.
