TRACE, DANGOTE CEMENT COMPANY SYNERGISE TO REDUCE ROAD CRASHES

The Ogun State Traffic Compliance and Enforcement Corps, (TRACE) has assured that it will continue to collaborate with stakeholders to ensure that road crashes were reduced to the barest minimum.

Corps Commander and Chief Executive Officer, TRACE, Commander Olaseni Ogunyemi gave the assurance while receiving the management of Dangote Cement Transport, Ibese in his office at Abeokuta.

Ogunyemi said the agency was saddled with the responsibility of saving lives and property on the road, adding that effort would be intensified in educating, training and retraining truck drivers towards curbing crashes on the roads.

He pointed out that the agency had observed that articulated vehicles drivers were reckless in driving, intimidating other road users due to the size of their vehicle, calling on such drivers to desist from reckless driving and drinking of alcohol.

"It has been observed that articulated vehicles drivers are reckless in driving. They usually intimidate other road users basically because of the size of their vehicles and the insurance policy that their organisations have subscribed to, and this can be described as antisocial behaviour", Ogunyemi stated.

He urged the team to checkmate their drivers when driving, saying the Agency would not condone insanity and inhumane acts, as it would continue to intensify efforts in educating, training and retraining truck drivers towards reducing crashes on the roads.

Responding on behalf of the management of Dangote Cement Transport, Ibese, Ogun State, Mr. Steven Asoji appreciated TRACE Corps for their commitment at ensuring that motorists obey the traffic laws and solicited the continued support of the agency.
