TRACE MAYORS’ OPERATION TO BE REMODELED FOR EFFECTIVENESS-COMM

The Ogun State Commissioner for Transportation, Engr. Gbenga Dairo, says plans are underway by the government to remodel the Ogun State Traffic Compliance and Enforcement Corps Mayors for more effective results in tackling traffic enforcement and compliance issues in the State.

Dairo stated this in Abeokuta, during an interactive meeting with TRACE and a voluntary security group, Eagle Crime Awareness, and Prevention Initiative (ECAPI).

The Commissioner while receiving the ECAPI team who came to signify its intention in lending a hand by partnering with TRACE on-road management, said rebranding the mayors would go a long way. He said respected members of the society, senior government officials should volunteer to join TRACE mayors, to help increase the effectiveness of officials.

“TRACE is one of our agencies, they have the role of implementing the policies of the Ministry of Transportation, part of which is safety and congestion reduction on our roads. Though we have TRACE Mayors in the State, there is a need to feel their presence and be more effective in their activities, as they also should be involved in advocating, enforcing, and educating the general public, hence the need for rebranding. Having ECAPI in our State is a welcome development which I believe should bring an effective collaboration”, he said.

In his contribution, the Corps Commandant and Chief Executive Officer TRACE, Seni Ogunyemi affirmed that the Corps is set to partner with ECAPI as Mayors as more hands are needed in battling the issue of traffic compliance in the State.

“We are ready to accommodate them but they will need to go through training to know the fundamentals of our activities and locations in order to achieve the desired result”, he said.

Earlier in his remarks, the President ECAPI, Amb. Samuel Adam appreciated the Commissioner for the opportunity to interface with the Ministry, noting that government needs stakeholders to support some of its activities.
