Former Real Madrid striker, Michael Owen, has singled out Thiago Alcantara for special praise following the Spaniard’s ‘masterclass’ display against Manchester United.

Thiago was impressive as Liverpool humbled Manchester United, with a 4-0 win at Anfield on Tuesday night.

A brace from Mohamed Salah and one each from Luis Diaz and Sadio Mane gave Jurgen Klopp’s side the victory against Man United.

The result means Liverpool moved to the top of the Premier League table with 76 points from 32 games.

However, Thiago grabbed attention on social media after controlling the midfield with ease for Liverpool against Man United during the encounter.

The midfielder received a standing ovation from the Anfield crowd when he was substituted for James Milner towards the end of the 90 minutes.

And Owen, a former Liverpool and Man United attacker, tweeted his admiration for Thiago.

He wrote on Twitter: “@Thiago6 masterclass. Phenomenal performance.”
