Ogun State Deputy Governor, Engr. Noimot Salako-Oyedele has sought the support of well-meaning individuals and organisations to key into the ‘Adopt a School Project’ of Prince Dapo Abiodun in his continued effort to reposition the State’s education sector.

Engr. Salako-Oyedele said this during the official handing over of a block of four classrooms donated by the Build A School Initiative Africa (BASIA) to Obafemi-Owode Local Government Nursery and Primary School, Pakuro.

She noted that education for all is a collective responsibility, hence all parties needed to join hands with the government to achieve the desired standard.

She added that apart from improving on the infrastructural deficit the present administration met on ground, it had also identified that if properly motivated, learners and teachers would be duly encouraged.

The Deputy Governor applauded the group led by its President, Dr. Victor Ukorebi for being worthy partners in progress with the State government.

Engr. Salako-Oyedele admonished the school authority, to make good use of the infrastructure, stating that “good maintenance is the only key to the longevity of anything”.

In their separate remarks, the Commissioner for Education, Science and Technology, Prof. Abayomi Arigbabu and the Chairman, State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB), Dr. Femi Majekodummi, represented by the Board’s Secretary, Mr. Wasiu Kuye, commended BASIA for its unflinching support to education, saying the donation would further complement government’s huge investments in the sector.

In his address, the President and Chief Executive Officer, BASIA, Dr. Victor Ukorebi said the provision of six blocks of classrooms, representing a total of 24 classes has been provided by the NGO, across Ogun, thereby securing the future of 1,200 students in the State.

“It is high time people changed their mindset of what government can do for us, to what can we do to assist government, our communities, schools and villages”, he said.

Earlier, the Head Teacher of the school, Alhaja Muibat Azeez, said the classrooms donated to the school came at the right time, calling on other corporate organisations to also support the government’s effort, toward transforming the State education sector.
