In a bid to further improve the standard of education in Ogun State, blocks of classrooms and halls in six public schools in the Ijebu East Local Government Area have been renovated and commissioned.
The schools are; Local Government School, Kokunsere, St. Louis Primary School, Ijebu-Ife, St. John’s Community Primary School, Itele, Community Primary School, Orita J4, Moslem Primary School, Isapodo and St. Brendah’s Grammar School, Ogbere.
Commissioner for Education, Science and Technology, Prof. Abayomi Arigbabu, while speaking at the symbolic commissioning of the projects facilitated by the Awujale and Paramount Ruler of Ijebuland, Oba Sikiru Adetona and sponsored by Julius Berger Construction Company at St. John Community Primary School, Itele, Ijebu, said government would continue to improve on the infrastructure of schools in the area.
Prof. Arigbabu noted that the investment and outstanding demonstrations of Oba Adetona among other philanthropists towards the development of education had been complementing Prince Dapo Abiodun giant strides in the sector, calling on all and sundry to continue to support and partner with government in its drive to improve academic standard.
“I want to assure you that our administration will not rest on its oars to change the narrative in the education sector. Very soon, the second phase of rehabilitation will commence and it will cut across schools in the State”, the Commissioner stated.
In his remark, the Moyegeso of Itele-Ijebu, Oba Engr. Mufutau Kasali applauded the present administration’s feats in the education sector and the effort of Oba Adetona at ensuring that education takes its pride of place in the State.
In his submission, the Chairman, Ogun State Television Board, Hon. Tunde Oladunjoye noted that the project would make teaching and learning activities easier for the beneficiaries, urging them to maintain the facilities.
Speaking in an interview, an alumnus of St. John’s Community Primary School, Chief Gbadebo Ogebule expressed delight at the development, saying the initiative would sustain the standard of the school and restore the glory of education.
