DANGOTE REFINERY: WE'VE MOVED ON, ALIKO HAS ALSO SHOWN INTEREST IN OLOKOLA- OGSG

Ogun State Government says it has moved on after losing the siting of the Multi-million naira Dangote refinery to Lagos State, noting that it still has the opportunity to attract more investments, as the Dangote Group has also indicated an interest in investing at the Olokola Deep Sea project.

Secretary to Ogun State Government, Mr Tokunbo Talabi gave this hint when he featured on a live television programme in Abeokuta, saying there is no reason to cry over spoilt milk, we have moved on. Interestingly, Dangote has also shown interest in Olokola.

Talabi who gave accounts on the achievement of the Prince Dapo Abiodun-led government in the last four years affirmed that the administration has been more democratic indisposition to issues and contributed in no small measure to the growth of the state and its people.

He noted that the administration has been able to stabilize the economy having addressed the setbacks we met and we have now put the state in good stead and path for more developments.

Speaking on what the people should expect in the next four years, Talabi said Whether I am here or not by then, I can confidently say that our people should look forward to better living standards for all and sundry.

On Security, Talabi said our administration has invested a lot in Security, from restructuring the Ogun State Security Task Force (OGSTF) to the provision of equipment and security gadgets through the public-private system adding that most of the pockets of unrest generally witnessed in the state are more often than not politically -motivated but assuring that government is mobilizing a Special Force to nib cultism and other social vices in the bud in the state.

"You see the truth is that we have invested a lot in security and if our state is not safe, we would not be witnessing the location of industries in the state as it is now. Even during the End SARS protest, this state was one among others which managed the situation effectively and we are not oblivious to the fact that the unrests arising from cultism and other social vices in recent times have some political undertone and we will be decisive in dealing with them having put in place a Special Force for that purpose", the SSG said.

On sports and Culture, Talabi informed that the drums festival had not been jettisoned but will be extended beyond drums to have cultural exhibitions as well saying the one for 2020 was already been planned before the COVID-19 outbreak stalled it adding that more is still to be done in sports as the government has gotten the National Sports Commission's recommendation and specifications as regards the standard of equipment and facility and the government is working at it as " we already have two serious intending investors for sports".
