OGUN LAUNCHES FEEDBACK MECHANISM INITIATIVE IN SECONDARY FACILITIES

‘Servicom’ programme has been launched in the secondary healthcare facilities across Ogun State, to serve as a feedback mechanism to facilitate effective service delivery for proper accountability and transparency.

Speaking during the official launch of the programme at the State Hospital Ijaye, Abeokuta, Commissioner for Health, Dr. Tomi Coker, described the initiative as one of the measures to promote sustainable service delivery in all government-owned health facilities in the State, saying it is a contract between the healthcare providers and their patients.

According to her, Servicom had been launched at the tertiary healthcare level, while the government would cascade the services from the secondary healthcare level down to the Primary Healthcare Centers.

‘’Its principles hinged on patient-public involvement in clinical governance, as continual feedback from patients through the initiative will lead to improvement of government's service delivery to residents’’, the Commissioner stated.

She called on all health workers and residents to embrace the initiative as a way of holding one another accountable, adding that the programme would ensure the realisation of the vision of the present administration for the health sector.

In his welcome address, the Permanent Secretary in the Ministry, Dr. Kayode Oladehinde, said Servicom was all about educating patients about their rights as regards the quality of service they receive in hospitals, saying the feedback mechanism would ensure that hospital services are patient-centered.

Speaking during an interview at the launch, one of the patients, Mrs. Florence Adediran appreciated the government for putting in place the new initiative in hospitals, saying it would improve the services of general hospitals.
