Members of staff of the Ogun State Internal Revenue Service (OGIRS) have been urged to continue to be transparent, diligent and imbibe professionalism in their operations, to reflect competence in the course of discharging their duties.

The Head of Service, Mr. Kolawole Fagbohun, stated this when he paid an unscheduled visit to the management of OGIRS at its head office in Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta, where he held a meeting with the management team of the agency led by its Chairman, Mr. Olugbenga Olaleye.

He noted that the commitment of workers has a great impact on the implementation of government’s policies and programmes for the wellbeing and welfare of people in the state, appreciating the staffers for their efforts to raise the bar in their revenue target as government could not do any project without funding.

"In any human endeavour, discipline is paramount, without it, you cannot achieve anything meaningful, you cannot obey the rules and you cannot achieve the goals and objectives of the organisation. So, you need to do whatever you have to do well because you are handling people's money, and if you don't handle it well, many lives would suffer and the government too would be less effective", Fagbohun said.

He further enjoined them to do whatever was entrusted into their hands in a transparent manner and be accountable with utmost desire to add value to their operations and the agency they serve.

          Responding, the Chairman, OGIRS, Mr. Olaleye, said the agency is ready to raise the bar in their operations and ensure that all directorates overhaul their operational system to be in tandem with government expectations.

Mr. Olaleye said OGIRS has 35 tax stations across the State and is working to have another one in Mowe to strengthen the existing ones and bring the tax stations nearer to the people.

The OGIRS boss promised that he would further entrench discipline and transparency to ensure seamless operations in the agency, in order to achieve their goals and objectives, and meet their revenue target.
