Towards improving academic performance of learners and developing the education sector in Ogun State, the Association of Egbe Degbuyi in Remoland, has donated educational materials and presented cheques for registration of candidates for the West African Secondary School Certificate Examination (WASSCE), in selected schools in the area.

Speaking during the donation at the Revolution House, Ewu Oliwo, Sagamu, Secretary to Sagamu Local Government (SLG), Hon. Kolawole Onalaja, who lauded the contributions of corporate bodies and associations to the upliftment of education in the council area, commended the philanthropic gesture of the Association.

Hon. Onalaja said the gesture was highly commendable and worthy of emulation, calling on other philanthropists in Remoland to join in ensuring the development of the education sector in the state, urging parents not to relent in supporting their children and wards in fulfilling their academic destiny.

"Corporate organisations and associations should emulate the initiative and use their resources to improve the academic well-being of learners to ensure a brighter future", he said.

Earlier, Giwa Egbe Degbuyi, Saheed Oloyede, appreciated the council for its support, explaining that the move was to give back to the society by extending hand of fellowship to students in Remoland, who were in need of academic support.

While explaining the criteria for selection and distribution of academic materials and support for the learners, he intimated that over twenty students, who had the capacity but lack financial support to register for WAEC were randomly selected from across 11 public secondary and primary schools in Remoland benefited from the scholarship.

He urged the beneficiaries to strive for the best, towards achieving academic excellence, imploring them to eschew violence, cultism and other vices capable of tarnishing their future.

Appreciating the donor on behalf of others, Master Nwafor Bright from Akesan Community Grammar School, Iperu Remo and Miss. Odugbile Aisha from Ositelu Memorial Grammar School, Ogere Remo, appreciated the Association, saying the initiative would further spur them on to perform better, promising to make use of the opportunity, to attain excellence in their studies.
