Governor Dapo Abiodun has put in place plans to develop and preserve the State's cultural and historical sites towards boosting its rich heritage and promoting socio-economic development of the State.

The Commissioner for Culture and Tourism, Hon. Sesan Fagbayi, disclosed this while playing host to members of the Nigeria Association of Tour Operators (NATOP), who were on a courtesy visit to the Ministry, Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta said the inspection tour of Governor Dapo Abiodun to the Olumo Tourist Complex reaffirmed his undeterred passion for developing the State's tourism sector, saying this prompted the on-going massive renovations and facelift at the Complex.

"The Governor gave his words of shifting attention to Tourism sector of the State, with the determination to give facelift to different sites, create awareness, engage private sector participation and to give us the mandate to discover historical buildings and families that played major roles in the history of Abeokuta and the State at large, this is aimed at supporting such families and creating awareness for their existence,"Fagbayi noted.

Responding, President of NATOP, Hajia Bolaji Mustapha said the essence of the visit was to liaise with the government through the Ministry as they tour about tourist sites, historical buildings and families across the State capitals.

Hajia Mustapha disclosed that, the Association had embarked on familiarisation tours to different tourist sites of various States in the Country with a view to partnering with the government towards promoting and exploring the State tourist sites, as well as showcasing the State to tourists coming into the country.

The Association visited Obasanjo Presidential Library, Adire Mall, Alake palace, Egba Museum, Ake as well as historical families in Egbaland.
