Ogun State Government through the Ministry of Culture and Tourism has revealed plans to transform the tourism landscape in the State to a world class tourism hub.
The Commissioner for Culture and Tourism, Hon. Sesan Fagbayi, made this known at Olumo rock Tourist Complex, during an inspection of the renovation, said the renovation was part of plan to transform the tourism sector in the State.
According to him, the initiatives put in place were the implementation of E-ticketing system, Strategic security measures involving the law enforcement agencies as well as integrating nearby historical sites to enhance visitor’s experience.
Hon. Fagbayi, added that the initiative aligns with regional tourism development strategies, focusing on modernisation, historical preservation, as well as creating memorable visitor experience.
The Commissioner disclosed that in 2024, Olumo received 93,351 visitors while between January and March 2025, 27,389tourists were recorded, assuring that after the completion of the facelifts at the tourist site would increase expectations of substantial growth following the ongoing renovations.
Hon. Fagbayi, highlighted some of the renovations which included: the removal of outdated infrastructures such as existing toilets, elevators, and the introduction of new gallery, gazebos and E-ticketing booths, modernised kitchen with a massive environmental enhancement, saying that the project was aimed at creating a more attractive, modern tourist experience and revenue potential.
In a related development, the Commissioner has received an award for his outstanding contribution towards growth and development in the Tourism Sector conferred on him by a team from City Herald Magazine in Abeokuta
While appreciating the team for the award and their support in promoting tourism, Hon. Fagbayi, eulogised the present administration’s vision towards developing tourism sector to its full potential.
