On Tuesday, May 6, President Bola Tinubu presented a N1,783,823,708,309 budget for the Federal Capital Territory to the National Assembly.
The budget was presented the legislature for due consideration and passage.
The president made an official presentation of the budget in a letter addressed to the leadership of the National Assembly and read on the floor by the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Tajudeen Abbas.
According to the letter, the president said the presentation of the budget was in line with the provision of section 299 of the Constitution.
He said that the passage of the budget would facilitate investment in health, and social welfare increase agricultural production and improve the creation of jobs among many others.
In addition, Tinubu explained that 85 per cent of the budget will be earmarked for the completion of key projects, while the remaining 15 per cent will be for the commencement of new projects.
He also appealed to the lawmakers and their leaders to expedite action on the passage of the presented budget.
