President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is currently in a closed-door meeting with security chiefs at the Presidential Villa in Abuja.

Those at the meeting include the Chief of Defence Staff, General Christopher Musa; Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Olufemi Oluyede; Chief of Air Staff, Air Marshal Hassan Abubakar; Chief of Naval Staff, Vice Admiral Emmanuel Ogalla; and the Inspector General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun.

As of the time of this report, the reason for the meeting has not been officially announced. However, it may be linked to the recent rise in insecurity in some parts of the country.

Security forces have recently faced renewed attacks from insurgents, especially in parts of northern Nigeria.

The emergency meeting is also taking place just before President Tinubu’s scheduled trip to Rome on Saturday. He is expected to attend the inauguration mass of Pope Leo XIV, following an invitation from the Vatican.
