As part of Hajj exercise, Ogun State pilgrims have safely arrived Mina, Saudi Arabia, as they prepare for the major rites, including the symbolic stoning of the shaytan and the Eid al -Adha celebration. 

The pilgrims, dressed in the two-piece white garment, would camp under the tents at the Mina valley, which was about 10.3 km outside the city of Mecca.

Speaking, Executive Secretary of Ogun State Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Board (OGMPWB), Alhaji Ajibola Taiwo, said "Pilgrims will spend the major part of the day at Mina before proceeding to Arafat where they will be on Thursday, June 5th, 2025."

"All pilgrims are expected to be at Arafat, as the Hajj exercise cannot be completed without the visit to Mount Arafat, "he added.

Ajibola admonished the pilgrims to conduct themselves in an orderly manner during the process, explaining that after the khutbar (sermon) and prayers at Arafat, pilgrims would be moved to Muzadalifah, where they would spend the night in the open and pick pebbles, before returning to Mina the following morning.

He added that pilgrims were expected to perform their Hajj rites on Friday June 6th, 2025 including slaughtering of the sacrificial lamb, 'stoning of the devil', and cutting of hair before changing their cloths from the state of Ihram, which they had been for days.

In their separate remarks, two of the pilgrims, Alhaji Abdulraheem Shuaib and Alhaja Awotunde Ajimo, commended the Board for proper coordination with the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON) and the Saudi Arabia authorities.

 They commended the Ogun State Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Board (OGMPWB) for the arrangement put in place to ensure adequate welfare of pilgrims during the major Hajj rites, NAHCON and the Saudi Arabia Government.
