Ogun State House of Assembly through its Committee on Lands and Housing has directed the families of the concerned parties including Emmanuel Osho, Owodunni Sodipo, Abiodun Soneye, Adeyiga Jeje Lambo, Hammed Sodipo to re- appear before it on Thursday, July 3, 2025, with all relevant documents relating to a land dispute involving a portion of land reportedly belonging to the State Housing Corporation at Ibido Community Area, Sagamu Estate, in Sagamu Local Government Area of the State.
The Chairman of the Committee, Hon. Damilola Soneye, who made the request, called on the families to present a perimeter survey of their acclaimed disputed land, Certificates of Occupancy (C of O) and building permits issued to individuals currently having structures on the said land for further investigation.
The Committee also directed the Management of the Housing Corporation to submit records of compensation allegedly paid at the time of the land acquisition in 1977.
The Committee also noted that in its bid to verify claims and establish authenticity of the land location, the Office of the Surveyor General in the State Bureau of Lands and Survey was directed to provide necessary documentation on the land for presentation at the next meeting holding on the 3rd of July, 2025.
Hon. Soneye assured all parties that the Assembly was committed to a fair and peaceful resolution, adding that if investigations reveal that the Housing Corporation has no rightful claim to the land, it would be asked to vacate it; promising same verdict to the families laying claims to the said Estate Lands.
On his part, the Vice Chairman of the Committee, Hon. Samisudeen Lawal, appealed to the families involved to exercise patience and avoid being confrontational, emphasizing that cooperation was key to resolving the issue.
Meanwhile, the Committee has expressed disappointment that the nine other individuals earlier summoned over alleged encroachment and land grabbing at the Housing Corporation, Itanrin Estate in Ijebu-Ode failed to honour its invitation.
The House Committee Chairman warned that it might invoke its constitutional powers to compel attendance should the individuals continue to defy the Assembly's directive on the matter; while reaffirming the Committee's resolve to uphold the rule of law and protect government property across the State.
