The Ogun State Ministry of Culture and Tourism has pledged to consistently engage with its stakeholders, in order to enhance relationships and elevate the Tourism sector to an enviable position.
The Commissioner in the Ministry, Hon. Sesan Fagbayi, made this known during the Second Quarterly Stakeholders Meeting for 2025, organised by the Hotels and Allied Businesses Department of the Ministry at the June 12 Cultural Center in Abeokuta.
Hon. Fagbayi stated that the Ministry would continue to interface with its stakeholders and the public, to serve as a bridge between them and the government, understand their challenges, get feedback from them and find ways to improve the services being rendered to the stakeholders, thereby fostering renewed partnerships.
The Commissioner added that accurate documentation was crucial for national progress, urging hotels and allied businesses owners to declare their full business details during registration.
Speaking, Permanent Secretary in the Ministry, Dr. Quudus Yusuff, said the essence of the quarterly meeting was to gather input, discuss about security of hotels across the State and presentation of the trial payment into the Ministry's Online Platform for the Automation of Culture and Tourism Matters (OPLACT) in the State's payments system.
Dr. Yusuff noted that the customer care hotline have been planned to assist businesses in navigating registration and tax payment processes.
In her presentation, Director of Hotels and Allied Businesses, Mrs. Funmilayo Ilori, thanked the stakeholders for their cooperation in the Ministry’s revenue drive to increase its IGR, saying that the meeting's objectives were to inform, equip, and keep members informed of changes in the department's operations, resolve online payment issues, renew fees and notify them of the disbandment of revenue agents.
She cautioned them about being wary of imposters posing as representatives of the Ministry or State Government.
Speaking on behalf of other participants at the meeting, the President, Hoteliers Association of Nigeria, Ogun State Chapter, Alhaji Olajide Sodunke, said the regular stakeholders meeting was a commendable initiative that affords them the opportunity to communicate their challenges and get feedbacks from the government through the Ministry.
Participants at the quarterly meeting were: Ogun State Chapter representatives of the Hoteliers Association of Nigeria (HAN), Beer Sellers Association, Food Vendors Association, Event Planners Associations, Disc Jockey Association among others.
