Nigerians must begin to think beyond constant complaints about our current challenges. Instead, let us focus on how we can individually and collectively contribute to building a greater nation.
You don’t have to be in government to make a difference. Live truthfully, be patriotic, play your part, and inspire your family, friends, neighbors, and community to do the same.
If you believe all political parties have failed you, then ask yourself — who are the people that will build the new ones? The responsibility lies with us. We must rise and become watchdogs: holding the legislature accountable to be more functional, ensuring the executive remains on the right path, and demanding that the judiciary delivers true justice.
We must also discipline ourselves — reject monetary bribes during elections. Let’s learn to recognize and support working, honest representatives and give them the mandate to continue their good work. Let peace guide us as we work for the growth and unity of our country.
Hypocrisy has brought us to this critical point as a nation. One of the deepest root issues lies in youth development. The true path to reform begins with the youth on the streets — we must equip them with skills, particularly in agriculture, so they can become self-reliant and future leaders of their homes and society.
It is imperative that the National Assembly, State Assemblies, and Local Government Legislative Councils prioritize and pass a Youth Reform Bill to create a structured pathway for empowering young Nigerians.
Let us all rise to the challenge.
