BABA OLUNEYE OKUBOYEJO, A LIVING LEGEND, GOV-ABIODUN



Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun, has described the 92 year old Chairman of the Governor's Elders Advisory Council (OGSGEAC), Chief Oluneye Okuboyejo as a living legend whose record of values and integrity need to be upheld by the younger generations.


The Governor made this known at the launch of Baba Okuboyejo's biography titled "Olu Okuboyejo: Ijebu Icon’’, written by Dr. Layo Adeniyi, at Ejirin Road, Ijebu-Ode.


He stated that the gathering was to celebrate the icon’s well deserved honor as a living library, added that though, the book called him Ijebu icon but they call him a living legend.


Represented by the Deputy Governor, Engr. Noimot Salako-Oyedele, said the book had revealed the truest nature of the celebrant as a distinguished public servant and a highly successful man in the corporate world as well as community service, expressing gratitude to God on behalf of Chief Okuboyejo for a true service and steadfast support for his government.


Presenting the citation of the celebrant, Ogun State Head of Service Mr. Kehinde Onasanya, said Chief Okuboyejo affectionately known as 'The Last Man Standing,' holds the distinction of being the oldest living retired Permanent Secretary in the State.


Mr. Onasanya, noted that baba's  career stories, marked by exceptional public service and indelible mark as a technocrat and economic strategist is permanently etched in the sands of time, added that he was one of the forebears and builders of the Public Service.


The Head of Service pointed out that his life was a testament to the power of faith and dedication to serving humanity, adding that baba’s legacy would continue to inspire generations while the book has further encapsulates Chief Okuboyejo's Odyssey of unblemished career in public and community service.


Also speaking, Dagburewe of Idowa, Oba Adefuwape Okuribido, described Chief Okuboyejo as a pride son of Ijebu land whose life was devoted to community service and development, saying that the book would continue to inspire present and future generations.


In his remarks, Chief Oluneye Okuboyejo, who was visibly elated at the launch, said the programme was just a hall of gratitude and appreciation to God who spared his life to see the day, adding that he was just a product of grace while promising to use the remaining days of his life for humanity.


Governor Abiodun thereafter unveiled the book" Olu Okuboyejo: Ijebu Icon with eleven chapters and 2 hundred and thirty eight pages for launch and public consumption.


The event was graced by members of the State Executive Council, dignitaries from all walk of life in the public service and corporate world, clergy men as well as the traditional institutions among others.
