Bridging Communities, Building Futures: The Dapo Abiodun Model of Inclusive Development

By: Ola Muritala

Development in Ogun State today can be seen in roads, housing, schools, and projects that directly touch the lives of ordinary people. Since 2019, Governor Dapo Abiodun has been deliberate in pursuing an agenda that links communities together while also preparing the state for the future.

The reconstruction of the Ijebu-Ode-Epe Expressway has given businesses and commuters a faster link to Lagos, while the Sagamu Interchange-Abeokuta Road has opened up trade and reduced travel time between major towns. In the same spirit, the administration delivered the Gateway Agro-Cargo International Airport in Iperu, a project designed to make Ogun a major hub for agriculture, manufacturing, and logistics.

On housing, estates such as Prince Court at Kemta, Abeokuta and other schemes across the three senatorial districts have given many families decent and affordable homes. The health sector has not been left behind, with the State Hospital in Ijaye and several primary health centres receiving upgrades to improve access to quality care.

Education and youth empowerment are also central to the government’s plans. More than 1,000 classrooms have been renovated, thousands of teachers recruited through the OgunTeach initiative, and ICT hubs established to equip young people with digital skills. Agriculture continues to receive attention through farm settlements and programmes that provide credit and equipment for young farmers.

Governor Abiodun has made it clear that development must reach every corner of the state. By linking towns with better roads, giving families affordable housing, supporting farmers, upgrading schools and hospitals, and creating jobs for young people, he is laying a foundation that will serve Ogun well beyond his time in office.

Ogun is not just moving forward, it is being positioned for a stronger and more inclusive future.
