In commemoration of the birthday of Senator Shuaib Afolabi Salisu, the Ogun Central Senatorial District Women Group organised a special interfaith prayer session for the senator and the people of Ogun State.
The event, held on Monday, August 4, 2025, at Senator Salisu’s constituency office on Abiola Way, Olorunsogo, Abeokuta, brought together Muslim and Christian clerics, party stakeholders, women’s groups, political leaders, and community members. The gathering was aimed at seeking divine protection, peace, progress, and the continuity of good governance in Ogun Central.
Muslim prayers were led by Imam Abdul Kabir from Osiele, Imam Sulaiman Akilapa, and Imam Sugar from Odeda and Orile Ilugun, respectively, alongside other imams. They offered supplications for the senator’s good health, wisdom, and success in delivering more dividends of democracy to the people.
Representatives from various women’s groups, including Amazing Mothers, SAS Amazons, Iyalabake Women Group, Achievers Progressive Women, and SAS Babes from the six local governments, Ogun Central local government women leaders also offered prayers and praised Senator Salisu for his impactful representation.
Prominent women leaders present included the Vice Chairmen of Abeokuta South, Abeokuta North, Ifo Local Governments, as well as Alhaja Bisola Aliu, vice chairman of Ewekoro local government and the APC Senatorial Woman leader.
The convener of the program, Hon. Dr. Folasade Adeyemo, who is also the Odeda Local Government Chairman and Deputy ALGON National Welfare Secretary, described Senator Salisu as a kind-hearted leader committed to the welfare of Ogun Central residents.
"Within his first year in office, Senator Salisu has constructed multiple ICT centres across the six local governments in Ogun Central. He has also organised over seven empowerment programs for women and youths, distributing cash grants, laptops, and other valuable resources," she said.
"The past two years have been impactful, and the senator has promised to do even more for our people. His dedication to development and empowerment is commendable."
Many attendees shared positive testimonies about Senator Salisu’s leadership. Members of SAS Babes, and women’s support group, expressed gratitude for his inclusive governance and empowerment initiatives.
"Senator Salisu has shown that he truly cares about the people. Through his programs, many of our members have received laptops and financial support to boost their businesses. We are proud to celebrate his 61st birthday with prayers and appreciation," said a representative of SAS Babes.
The event concluded with a cake-cutting ceremony in honour of Senator Salisu’s 61st birthday, symbolising unity and goodwill among the people of Ogun Central.
The interfaith prayer session reinforced the call for sustained progress and development under Senator Salisu’s representation while celebrating his contributions to the senatorial district.
