The ancient city of Ijebu-Ode was filled with excitement and jubilation as political leader and philanthropist, Chief Gbolahan Abdulrafiu Nowoola, marked his birthday in a remarkable way — by empowering over 500 indigent residents with cash support to improve their livelihoods.

The event, which took place in Ijebu-Ode, drew a large crowd of beneficiaries, well-wishers, youth groups, political leaders, and community stakeholders who gathered to celebrate with the respected chief.

In his brief remarks, Chief Nowoola expressed deep gratitude to God for the gift of life and the opportunity to give back to the community that raised him.

According to him, the cash empowerment was his way of showing love and support to the less privileged, especially during these challenging economic times.

“This birthday is not just about me. It’s about touching lives, giving hope, and encouraging others to lend a hand where they can. These beneficiaries are hardworking people who only need a little push, and I am happy to be part of their journey,” he said.

Each of the over 500 beneficiaries received a cash gift aimed at supporting their small businesses, meeting essential needs, or starting a trade.

One of the beneficiaries, Mrs. Mariam Adefowora, praised Chief Nowoola's gesture, saying, he is a rare gem. Many celebrate with lavish parties, but he chose to remember the poor. May God continue to bless him abundantly.”

Also speaking at the event, a member of the Governor’s Advisory Council, High Chief Ibukunolu Ojoshipe, commended the initiative and called on other well-meaning individuals to emulate Chief Nowoola’s act of generosity and social responsibility.
