Ogun State House of Assembly through its Committee on Lands and Housing, has appealed to the Inspector General of Police, through the AIG Zone 2 in Lagos to caution their personnel over indiscriminate arrest of innocent people from Ogun State on land related matters.

The Chairman of the Committee, Hon. Damilola Soneye, represented by Hon. Oluseun Adesanya, made the appeal, while inviting some individuals in relation to a petition bordering on " threat to lives and property, land grabbing, assault, and unlawful seizure and sale of hectares of land at Omu-Eleni", in Odogbolu Local Government Area of the State.

The petition by Omoju Ogunberu Chambers submitted on behalf of Mr. Ademolu Abiodun, Mr. Tunde Edunoko, and Mr. Temitope Abiodun detailed sustained harassment, destruction of cash crops, and the unlawful seizure and sale of their 70 acres of farmland at Oke-Meri, via Omu-Eleni in Odogbolu Local Government Area by the alleged perpetrators.

The House Committee Chairman, while urging the Inspector General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, through the Assistant Inspector General of Police, Zone 2, Adegoke Fayoade, to caution their men, noted that there were extant laws in the State meant to address such issues without external interference.

The Committee therefore re-invited one Alhaji Rafiu Akinyemi, of number 1, Enilolobo Bus Stop, Giwa- Okearo Road, Yinkus Plaza, Ifo Local Government Area, Folorunsho Lamidi, and Mr. Ogunbowale Lamidi to appear before it on Tuesday, 9th September 2025, at 11:00 a.m.

The Committee warned that failure of the individuals invited to honour the Assembly's invitation, would lead to invoking section 129 of the nation’s constitution to compel them to attend .
