Oba Awokoya-Yesufu Advocates Collaboration between SACOETEC and Irete-Ijebu Community

The Onirete of Irete-Ijebu, Oba Dr. Olusegun Awokoya-Yesufu, has called for a strategic partnership between the Sikiru Adetona College of Education, Science and Technology (SACOETEC) and the Irete-Ijebu community to promote mutual development and educational advancement.

The monarch made this call during a courtesy visit to the SACOETEC management at the institution's premises, where he emphasized the importance of strong collaboration between educational institutions and their host communities to foster grassroots development, youth empowerment, and sustainable growth.

"SACOETEC’s presence in our community presents an enormous opportunity—not only for academic excellence but also for economic and social development," Oba Awokoya-Yesufu stated.

He further stressed the role of education in community transformation:

"Education is a vital tool for transformation. We must work together to ensure that the community benefits fully from the institution in its midst."

Oba Awokoya-Yesufu urged the college management to deepen its engagement with the Irete-Ijebu community through the establishment of an ICT center, community-based research, and initiatives that generate employment and build local capacity.

In response, the College Provost, Dr. Modupe Ayodele Oba-Adenuga, expressed appreciation for the monarch’s support and reaffirmed SACOETEC’s commitment to being a responsible and impactful neighbor.

"Plans are already underway to introduce vocational training and community service projects that will directly benefit the youth and the broader population of Irete-Ijebu," Dr. Oba-Adenuga said.

Also speaking in an interview, Otunba Saheed Dosumu described the meeting as a significant step toward strengthening synergy between traditional institutions and academic establishments in Ogun State.

He emphasized that such partnerships are vital for development strategies that align education with community needs.
