OGUN ARREST 6 FOR BREAKING GOVERNMENT SEAL




The Ogun State Government has arrested 6 individuals along Oba Erinwole road in  Sagamu for allegedly breaking government seal and for resuming construction after the site was sealed.


Special Adviser to the Governor on Environmental Protection Agency (OGEPA), who also doubles as the chairman Ogun State Environmental Compliance and Enforcement, Hon. Farouk Akintunde made this known to newsmen in his office at Oke-Mosan Abeokuta.


Akintunde said, a gas station, which was under construction was earlier sealed by the government for violating the environmental laws of the State, but, surprisingly, at a compliance inspection to the site, workers were seen working there, an action  which initiated the arrest made,  calling on the residents of the State to abide by the environment laws to prevent been sanctioned


"Breaking government seal is a serious offence which attracts punishment understand the environmental law of the State," he said.


He revealed too, that a farm was also sealed at Laderin Estate in Abeokuta for rearing animals in a residential area, which is in violation of the environmental law of the State, just as he noted that the enforcement team also removed shanties along major roads in Abeokuta.
