Christian workers as the body of Christ have been charged to stay connected with Christ the head and avoid being complacent to the things of God in this period as being in touch with Christ only would make them relevant and productive in their services to humanity.
The Head of Service, Mr Kehinde Onasanya gave the charge in his remarks at the opening session of the South West Conference of the Fellowship of Christian Workers International hosting by the Ogun State chapter with the theme " Mind the Head" held at the Government House Chapel, Oke Igbehin, Abeokuta.
Mr Onasanya represented by the Permanent Secretary, Bureau of Service Matters, Mr Oladipupo Ogunfowora said Christian workers should continue to hold on to Christ the author and finisher of their faith in everything they do and seek for His direction for positive achievements, high yield productivity and excellent service delivery.
He said workers as the engine room of government must work assiduously to achieve the goals of the government for mankind, adding that good success is not achievable without the help of Christ who is the head of the church.
Mr. Onasanya said any service rendered to man should be seen as service to God because God created man in His own image and likeness, adding that the best is meant to be for God.
He eulogized the the State government for providing the enabling environment for workers in the State to thrive and render impactful services to the citizens.
In his opening message at the conference, the lead Pastor of Grace Baptist church, Asero estate, Abeokuta, Reverend Dr Adewale Ajayi speaking on the conference theme " Mind the Head" said Christian workers must see themselves as the body of Christ the head and therefore should always see through the eyes of Christ, speak through His mouth, act by His direction bearing in mind that any part of the body who does not recognise the head would malfunction.
Rev'd Ajayi said God created man in His own image and likeness to fellowship with Him and be glorified, adding that whenever man lost fellowship with Christ through sin, the glory of God will depart from such person.
Earlier in their separate welcome address, the national and South West zonal coordinators of the fellowship, Evang. Israel Adeyanju and Rev'd Caleb Anota said Christians workers at any level or cadre must be committed to their duties and their callings because they would be rewarded, adding that they should fellowship with one another in unity as the body of Christ to achieve His purpose for the people.
They charged workers not to compromise their faith in their dealings in their respective offices to be able to continue to carry the banner of Christ higher as His body anywhere they found themselves.
The Ogun State coordinator of the fellowship and the Permanent Secretary, Bureau of Public Service Reform, Mr Jola Oyeneye appreciated the State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun and his team for the peace and privilege that the civil/ public servants are enjoying in the State, adding that serving government well would mean serving God diligently and sincerely and this would enable them to see people the way God sees them.
Delegates from Oyo, Osun, Ondo and Ekiti states joined their brethren in Ogun to make the conference a memorable one.
Some serving and retired Permanent Secretaries were also graced the event while prayers were offered for Ogun state and the nation.
