Anambra State Governor, Prof. Chukwuma Charles Soludo, CFR, met with President Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, on Thursday night in Abuja.

The meeting, held at the Presidential Villa, drew attention across political circles as the two leaders reconnected publicly for the first time since the recent governorship election.

According to information made available, President Tinubu received Governor Soludo warmly and spoke fondly of their long relationship that dates back more than two decades.

The atmosphere at the Villa was described as relaxed, with both men holding a lengthy private discussion before brief interactions with aides.

During the visit, President Tinubu once again congratulated Governor Soludo on his victory in the just concluded Anambra governorship poll.

The President described the election outcome as “a clear affirmation of the confidence your people have in your leadership,” reflecting on Soludo’s impressive performance, where he secured 73% of the total votes announced by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

The President had earlier issued an official public statement celebrating Soludo’s triumph shortly after INEC declared the results.

Thursday night’s meeting appeared to reinforce that gesture, with Tinubu assuring the governor of continuous support for development projects that align with the administration’s national economic priorities.

Although details of their closed-door conversation were not disclosed, sources around the Villa hinted that the discussion may have touched on security issues in the South-East, federal–state collaborations, and new initiatives for boosting economic growth in Anambra State.

Governor Soludo, on his part, thanked President Tinubu for the reception and reaffirmed his commitment to deepening cooperation with the Federal Government.

He emphasized that his administration is focused on delivering lasting infrastructure, strengthening community peace, and improving the lives of citizens across Anambra.
