The Olisa of Ijebu-Ode, High Chief Rasheed Adeoye Adesanya, has denied a publication circulating on social media claiming he referred to himself as Alaiyeluwa.
He made this known during a press conference held at the Olu Isa’s Palace in Ijebu-Ode.
High Chief Adesanya said his attention was drawn to the communique by Mr. Lekan Osisanya, who informed him that a document was circulating online suggesting he had allegedly contradicted the agreement reached at the Awujale Palace some days earlier.
In his words, “I was surprised when Mr. Lekan Osisanya drew my attention to the communique on social media, which falsely claimed I disowned the decisions made at the Awujale Palace recently. This is absolutely untrue. I have not granted any interview since our meeting at the Awujale Palace. I want to state clearly that the communique did not come from me. I disown it.”
He further emphasized that any publication not bearing his signature should be disregarded.
“The publication is not my handiwork, nor did it emanate from the Olisa Palace. If you see any document that I did not sign, please do not accept it. I remain fully committed to the Awujale Interregnum Council and stand by the communique issued at the Awujale Palace some days ago,” he said.
Chief Adesanya reaffirmed his true position, stating: “I am the Olisa of Ijebu-Ode and the Head of Ilamuren. At no time have I addressed myself as the ‘Alaiyeluwa Oba’ in any communique circulating on social media.”
