OGUN SUBEB COMMENDS LAFARGE AFRICA FOR REMODELING EWEKORO SCHOOL

The Ogun State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB) has applauded Lafarge Africa Plc for the comprehensive remodeling of Christian Pelamourges Memorial Baptist Day School in Agbesi, Ewekoro Local Government Area.

Speaking at the official commissioning of the upgraded facility, SUBEB Chairman, Evangelist Olalekan Ifede, described the project as a transformative intervention that has turned the school into a modern, child-friendly learning environment. He noted that the initiative would significantly boost teaching and learning outcomes while uplifting the community.

Ifede commended Lafarge Africa for its commitment to corporate social responsibility, describing the gesture as a "noble investment in humanity." He highlighted that the project aligned with Governor Dapo Abiodun’s agenda to reposition basic education through strategic partnerships and infrastructural renewal.

"This is not a renovation; it is a rebirth. It is a world-class upgrade that will positively impact over 500 pupils, teachers and members of the Agbesi community. Lafarge Africa Plc has shown exemplary leadership, and we remain genuinely grateful," he said.

The SUBEB chairman outlined the expected gains of the upgrade, including improved learner engagement, increased teacher motivation, enhanced safety, greater community pride and a more inclusive academic atmosphere. He urged teachers and pupils to use and maintain the facilities responsibly.

Chief Executive Officer of Lafarge Africa, Lolu Akinyemi, said the commissioning marked a major milestone for the Ewekoro community. He listed the remodeled features to include six air-conditioned classrooms, a fully equipped science laboratory, an ICT room, a refurbished cafeteria, a new Headteacher’s office, new furniture and other enhancements.

The Headteacher, Mrs. Hannah Ayoola, expressed profound gratitude to Lafarge, noting that the intervention had restored hope and strengthened community trust in partnerships that support education. Comrade Titilola  Adebisi, speaking on behalf of the teaching staff, also commended the company and pledged improved educational delivery.

In their remarks, Head Boy, Kayode Feranmi and Head Girl Owolabi Taiwo, thanked Lafarge Africa on behalf of the learners and promised to safeguard the new facilities.
